Celebrating a Double Anniversary at the Foot of the Beskids

The Polish Aviation Revue Przeglad Lotniczy published our 80th Jubilee in issue 4/2026 (no. 374) with an article about the legacy of SZD glider designs and production.

It is here that, for eight decades, gliders were built that trained successive generations of pilots and shaped the history of global gliding.

The location in Bielsko-Biała was no coincidence—the Aleksandrowice airfield was in the immediate vicinity, and the nearby training centers in the Beskids, including the one on Mount Żar, provided a natural base for the development of gliding.
