This May, the Aerokurier came to Bielsko-Biała to join our big 80th anniversary party. Editor-in-Chief, Lars Reinhold, checked out our factory and interviewed Bernd and Constanze Hager. We talked about our experiences over the past 26 years and new ideas for the future.

This is Lars Reinhold’s commentary on his visit to Bielsko-Biała in the foreword to the latest issue-07/2026:

Continuous development is also the key theme of the extensive feature on 80 years of SZD aircraft from Bielsko-Biała, Poland. Since 1946, 53 models have been developed at the Glider Research Institute there. Some remained prototypes or were produced in small series, while others sold in the hundreds and shaped flight training and competitions or set flight records. Thanks to German investors, the SZD story continues.
