The SZD-55-1 NEXUS is a unique engineering achievement. A high-performance sailplane designed especially for competitive use with a flat L/D curve for high cruising speeds. At the same time, its outstanding flight characteristics make it perfect for aero-clubs and experienced pilots alike.

The NEXUS is soon available with Allstar-e-motion ‒ an electric propulsion system for gliders by Allstar PZL Glider.

NEXUS – Elegance in the Standard Class

The NEXUS’s fine performance has been achieved through the use of unique, elliptically-shaped wings, together with its own air foil. Newly designed winglets help to reduce the induced drag even further. No turbulators or other boundary layer control is necessary.

The advances which have been made in terms of design and manufacturing methods are equally important. These have led to the extremely low empty weight of approximately only 230 kg – without any impact on the sailplane’s strength and without applying any exotic materials. With the lowest empty weight in its class, and 150 litres of water ballast, the NEXUS boasts exceptional capability as a sailplane.

Furthermore, this sailplane can be precisely trimmed for any flight conditions, using the trim lever on the control stick and a small ballast tank in the tail.

NEXUS – A Serious Competitor on the Global Leader Board

The sailplane offers a comfortable, ergonomically-designed and large cockpit, as well as an adjustable backrest. Its measured glide ratio exceeds 44. Special attention has been put into every single detail, which makes the NEXUS a top-performing standard class glider. Many pilots agree: this glider is simply a joy to fly.
